“My background is in hospital equipment sales but recruitment appealed to me for some time before I eventually made the move. I’m a people person, and recruitment gives me the opportunity to liaise with people from all different walks of life, allowing me to broaden and build upon my skills.

I love the ‘feel good factor’ involved with working alongside candidates to find their perfect role at whatever stage they are at in their career, and I enjoy the tenacity and sheer hard work involved in building relationships with clients. And you can’t beat the buzz that comes with finding that perfect match.

I’d never worked in recruitment before I came to Tay and I attended several interviews in order to find that ‘perfect match’. They dedicated a lot of time to my interview and throughout the process I met all the consultants, and every single one of them displayed a real passion about their roles. All of their responses to my questions were in line and it was immediately obvious they were a strong team who supported each other. Working with people who are driven, and supportive in helping new members grow and achieve their goals, was really important to me – especially as I was new to the industry.

There are highs and lows working in recruitment, but nothing I have felt in my career before compares to the highs. While working on positions or supporting candidates, everyone works as a team to share ideas and come up with new ways we can get the right outcome. Everyone from management to fellow consultants wantS you to achieve, and give you the basis and tools needed to do this without handing you everything on plate. Your good work is always your own, and it’s always celebrated.

Tay stands out from the competition because every decision made is in the best interest of our candidates. We put a lot of focus on our candidate care, and all of us are heavily invested in the outcomes of their career search. We spend a lot of time meeting and getting to know our candidates, knowing that it is important to understand not only their skills for the job but their outside interests and their softer skills. Personality is key in a support role and we want to ensure we get it right.

From the day I started at Tay Associates I was encouraged to get straight on the phone, and given opportunities to work on senior roles right away. If I was faced with a challenge I was provided with the details of what I could do about it, but implementing them was down to me. Tay wants you to get you off the ground from the minute you start, and that encouragement has helped me quickly progress as a confident consultant. Now I’m happy I can offer advice with conviction to our new starters.”
