Where to eat? February is all about perfect steaks and free cocktails

Spotlight restaurant: Hawksmoor Borough

Spotlight restaurant: Hawksmoor Borough

Address: 16 Winchester Walk, London SE1 9AQ

There are a few things in life we’ve found are tough to get absolutely perfect: The appropriate number of layers to wear to commute in February. Pay negotiations. A smokey eye. Steak. Cocktails. And while most of these remain an ongoing quest, we’ve got good news on the last two: you’ll find both at Hawksmoor Borough.

Hawksmoor's reputation as home to the best steaks in London is well deserved, and its cocktails match their cuts of meat when it comes to attention to detail and perfect execution.

That’s why Hawksmoor Borough is our latest spotlight restaurant, and we’ve teamed up with them to treat you and your guests to a free cocktail with your meal.

You really would struggle to find fault with any of their steaks, but that’s not the only thing they do sensationally - starters like the Old Spot belly ribs and main dishes like lamb tomahawks also hit the spot, and don’t be put off if meat isn’t your thing: they also nail their seafood options (our favourites are the Devon crab on toast starter followed but the South Coast monkfish).

The cocktail list is a good mix of original concoctions and twists on British classics, and the expert bartenders can suggest one to pair with your food, but if you like gin as much as we do we can highly recommend the Tom & Jerez (Hayman’s Old Tom Gin, Sherry, Pear, Lemon, Almond).

Housed in a former hops warehouse with an interior that manages to be both classic and dramatic, the restaurant offers a ideal setting for special dinners and relaxed business lunches alike. And if you’re in charge of booking tables for colleagues or bosses, make sure you sign up for Hawksmoor Rewards. PAs, EAs and other key bookers can sign up with the names of anyone you regularly book for, and then for every booking you make in any of the Hawksmoor restaurants (six in London plus Manchester and Edinburgh) you’ll receive a point. For every 10 points, you’ll get a £100 gift card for yourself as a thank you, and once you’ve reached 50 points you’ll receive a Jo Malone gift.

To find out more about the rewards scheme or to sign up, email Amelia Gracie at rewards@thehawksmoor.com and say that Tay sent you.

And for your free cocktail, simply quote Tay when you call 020 7234 9940 to book your table, or in the ‘special requests’ box when you book online.
